This painting was created from a picture taken by artist Nic Tibo at her home on a very cold Quebec winter afternoon. A large heavyset finch, the Evening Grosbeaks, wanders in a noisy band and is a source of great pleasure at your feeders…. expensive pleasure because the appetite of these birds is insatiable.… “Grosbeak” comes from the French gros bec, meaning thick beak. And, when first discovered, the Evening Grosbeak was observed to sing in the evening - hence its name.
